- 6. You don’t find out the truth, “once and for all.”
So, if your business wants to know what’s really happening, you have to do three things:
- Set the tone - let people know you’re serious about wanting to know the truth. This is not as hard as you think. See Conversations With Customers
- Have the conversations – this amounts to giving people a chance to talk about what they see/feel/know. As Hugh at Gapingvoid points out today, this is, however, scary.
- Set up mechanisms for ongoing conversations – Here's the rub. Keep checking in to do everything you can to know what’s really happening in time to do something about it. This information gets stale fast, especially today.
If you're intererested in knowing what's happening, you've gotta keep asking. And that's a big "if." We'll wrap this up tomorrow.
