I know it's hard to assess the importance of something you're passionate about (hey, I was just screaming at the TV rooting for the Black and Gold a little while ago), but I scratch my head when I hear smart people say blogging is "insignificant" today. I mean, OK, maybe this open, connected, communicative, "long-tailed," conversational, scrutinizing array of continuously involved people isn't as important as the Wall Street Journal (see, I'm bowing toward Mecca!), but "insignificant?"
Here's the deal: C-note to our favorite charity says a year from now there are 12,000,000 bloggers with more readership (you pick the measurement method) than all dailies in the country. Whaddya say?
Update: Compare Robert Paterson's opinions on blogging (thanks, Jon) with those noted above. In my view, whenever the disparity of judgment regarding the importance of something is this great, something important is definitely happening.

sucker bet.....heh
