    Welcome Back, Bob

Good to see Bob Lutz is back at his blog.  I really like the way he speaks to the customer in these lines:

Many people complained about it because it didn't look anything like the old GTO. But it was never supposed to look like the old GTO - it was supposed to feel like the old GTO. When you put your right foot into it, it's supposed to give you the same visceral thrill as the old one, its V8 launching you from a standing start. All the GTO enthusiasts out there... their affection was not based upon the car's looks, but upon the driving experience.

Why do I like that segment?  Because he's taking on the conventional wisdom about how products are supposed to be designed and going to (I assume, not being a GTO enthusiast, old or new) what the customer knows to be the core of the meaning of "GTO"; its essence, its "GTO-ness."

For me, retaining the essence while modifying other elements is the key to having a brand be simultaneously "timeless" and "fresh."

Look at a Chanel jacket from the 60s and one from the 90s, and you'll see what I mean.

    Dear Mr. Bob Lutz

I love my currently leased Buick 2003 CXL Rendeavoux.
However, my current vehicle start to make some engine noises after the spedometer turned to 50K.
Now the AWD, and the antilock break lights come out..
It reminds me with my 2001 Chevy venture and the trouble I started to have with it after I put on it 65K miles..
Then the AC compresser went down, and it cost me well over $3,000.00 to fix it. Additionally the break went down and I have to put more money in that vehicle.
I traded in and as a result I was $9,000.00 upside down on my loan..
I just wish that GM put more emphasis on those PRODUCT- quality issues, and retain the satisfaction of loyal customers like myself.
Although My Renedevoux is still provide us a source of enjoyable ride and road handling experience, I TRULY want GM to do VERY WELL and be the best company we want it to be.
PS: by the way, this is my 5th GM vehicle that I either bought or leased in the past 9 years for myself and my wife.
I work with Engineering firm that provide a lot of engineering services to GM Power Train and PD.
Thank You for reading my comments..

    Happy Holidays All,
Looking for a little help/expertise here. Acquired Sun Super Tach (model ST-802). Came out of a 65 GTO and I hope to install it in my 65 GTO. Problem is... I'm clueless! 3 red wires one black. No transmitter or brain box required. Can anyone tell me how to install this beauty?
    Thanks!
