Accountability is a word that doesn't seem to exist for this administration....

    Connie Sartain

I noticed the headline but didn't read it, mused in passing whether it was new information. Rice's spin on the memo cited prior to the election was so typical of the kind I encountered - and was expected to craft - in corporate management ... that I think incompetence is generally expected of leadership. Where is are shining examples to the contrary(of accountability)?

The denial of responsibility in this whole mess is really amazing. It is, sadly, more and more typical of what we've come to expect from people in authority.

    Fog.

You know, I can't help but remember former President Bush's response to the question of whether his "no new taxes" platform promise was a mistake. Think it was around '88 election when I first noticed the politicos had discovered "perception", as in it's a "perceived" problem (as opposed to real, a way of denying reality.) Bush said, "Well, we'll see in Novemeber." In other words, it was only a mistake if he lost the election.

Reminded me of a choice I once made in corporate: I realized I could either do my job or keep it.

So if your intent is to gain office, or be re-elected, that generally leads to quite different behavior than...authentic leadership.
