When we talk about right-brain creativity, it's easy to imagine we're only talking about sexy, glamorous products.
Understandable.
But, here's a piece that demonstrates the importance of "meat and potatoes" creativity.
Much like this elegant re-design of one of the more commonplace objects, it appears the even more ubiquitous traffic light is in need of the right brain treatment.
The report highlights one of the most challenging aspects of post-industrial life: problems which we believe we've solved (intersection management via traffic signals) revealing solutions which are no long effective. What's next? New ways to tie your shoes?
Oh, shit.
If we have to keep going back and re-solving problems we thought we solved decades ago, how in the world are we going to solve the new problems we face?
Well, first we might have to give up the idea of "solved."
Uh, oh. Maybe this is going to be harder than we thought.
