There's a lot to say about Fouro-Mark's post today, but I don't have a bunch of time right now. I'll definitely get back to it soon.
But I did want to comment on the point he quotes Michael Kinsley making in a recent Washington Post article. In it, Kinsley quotes Chris Matthews (jeez, this is more complicated than I thought) saying that Republicans are the "Daddy Party" and Democrats the "Mommy Party." Kinsley then says:
It has not escaped notice that the Daddy Party has been fiscally misbehaving. But it hasn't really sunk in how completely Republicans have abandoned allegedly Republican values -- if in fact they ever really had such values. [emphasis added]
Now, just the other day, David Brooks wrote an op-ed (hurry!) in the Times in which he claimed that one reason conservatives are so strong is that they never really agreed on their values. The various conservative factions (isolationists/interventionists; supply siders/fiscal conservaives) have squabbled forever. And, he says, in a classic liberal fashion, in disunity (read: diversity) there is strength.
Man, the whole world's upside down, isn't it?

There's a lot to say.... I'll definitely get back to it soon.

OK, it'll be a bit, but I'll get to it, I promise!
Tease II: it's about this truth thing we seem to be having so much trouble with.
