Last week, we instituted Featured Foto Friday (slight alliterative re-branding this week) here at The TrueTalk Blog.
Today's photo(s): a collage of New York shots. This post's title is a phonetic rendering of Stevie Wonder's line from one of my favorites of his: "Living For The City." New York is very much a city on display, both for tourists and on film. Signs like this one are everywhere:
In some funny way, we're always, "on"; always ready for the next "take." One minute you're just walkin' down the street, next minute you see this:
Lights, camera, action.
Walkin' to work? Here's the press, waiting for a shot of Jessica Simpson, pimpin' her Dukes of Hazzard role.
It does a little something weird to our consciousness, constantly seeing tourists lined up to watch us going about our daily lives.
We're not anyone special, but we're in a place that's special to the world, which makes us all feel a little bit special. But you can't let on...'cause you're on camera, playing the role of blasé New Yorkers, hustling around as the audience watches the world go by.

We are too, special. The City is only special cuz we are.
