Here we are at Featured Foto Friday, once again. This week's shot, snapped on the streets of the visual cornucopia that is Manhattan, demonstrates a simple principle that we love at TrueTalk, Inc. Simply put: be passionate about what you do.
Here's a company that obviously approaches its work with wit, pride and passion. First the wit.
Imagine this. You're starting your own freight transport company. It's time to file the articles of incorporation and the lawyers want to know the company's name. How many R&J Freight, Mike's Hauling or Highway Services do you think their are? Millions. So these guys decide to do something different, something remarkable, and name their company, "Roads Scholar Transport." When I saw this truck, I just broke out in laughter. How smart are these guys? Well, they didn't just stop at the name. They knew that to be true to the spirit of the homonymically (that can't possibly be a word) related program at Oxford University, they had to have a crest. So, they created one. Simple, well balanced graphic, nice use of color. Excellent. Oh, and the white outlined lettering is top notch, too.
Now the pride. Take a look at that truck. It's made of highly polished stainless steel. And, it's immaculate. These are not accidents. Owners who understand the relationship between design, wit, image and execution proudly put all these pieces together to create the company that this truck represents. Those owners put this truck (and others?) on the road to symbolize the pride they take in their business.
Given these characteristics, it's hard to imagine these people not being passionate about their business.
So, I decided to find out more about Roads Scholar Transport. Googling their name didn't reveal much, except one very interesting piece of information. The company is located in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, about five miles or so from my son-in-law's home town of Lunenburg.
That means tonight, when the Yankees and Red Sox square off at Fenway Park in the first game of a potentially-classic three-game series, the Roads Scholar folks will be pulling for the same guys I'll be pulling against.
But at least they'll probably do so with wit, pride and passion.
