Sorry for the light blogging, but that damned business stuff really gets in the way sometimes.
Anyhow, it's that time again: Featured Foto Friday!
Here we go:
Snapped this fellow in the Union Square subway station a few days ago. He's standing on a step, perfectly still, whitewashed from head to toe. You see people like this in high pedestrian traffic areas all the time. It's obvious that this kind of "performance art" has become relatively popular nowadays.
Why?
Why do we stop to stare at someone pretending to be a statue? The longer they stand motionless, the more enraptured we become.
Why?
This doesn't help. Nor does this. Even the erudite McSweeney's doesn't inform.
What's the fascination? What's the appeal?
Got any ideas?
This is the kind of stuff I think about when I'm not working!
