I'm a Bronx guy. I grew up in the Bronx. When you grow up in the Bronx you don't go to any of the other "outer boroughs" (Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island) voluntarily. Oh, you go to Queens if you have to, like, go to a Mets game, or take a flight out of LaGuardia.
Brooklyn?
Never.
But, that was before Brooklyn became chic. Now, there are all kinds of cool places to go in Brooklyn, so Karen and I went to DUMBO last week to look around. It's definitely interesting.
For instance, I really liked this doorway:
And then there was this store:
That's a place called Prague Kolectiv, touted as the only store in North America devoted entirely to mid-century pieces from the Czech Republic. Karen and I chatted with the very personable owner and spent about 45 minutes browsing some of the highly distinctive pieces. This really is a one-of-a-kind place.
Here's a toy car that my grandson, Benny, would absolutely love! Alas, it was not for sale. (Luckily for me!)
Anyhow, for me, the lesson was clear: don't be afraid to Czech out Brooklyn! Have a great weekend!

Oh come on "Other Ba-Ba"...you know as well as I do that EVERYTHING IS FOR SALE!
Ha ha...thank god, we don't have room for it anyway!

"Other Ba-Ba" would never try to talk a man out of a special piece! That's just not right! (Probably would have been priced at about $800, given the price-tags of everything else in the place!)
